Treetree acquires Florida-based digital marketing firm – Columbus … – Columbus Business First

A Columbus marketing and advertising firm is growing through acquisition.
Treetree has acquired Florida-based business-to-business digital marketing agency Weiter Marketing.
Treetree, which has an office in the Short North, now has 33 employees with an expectation to grow soon to 40 team members in Ohio, Florida, New Jersey and Germany.
Treetree shared more about the thinking behind the deal including a Q&A with its co-founder and CEO Becca Apfelstadt and former Weiter CEO Justin Wagg.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“With that came new faces, a new way of working and new capabilities that opened up new opportunities for our existing and future clients,” the company said. “The Treetree of today isn’t the same agency we were a couple of years ago. And we’ve never been better.”
Treetree sought to deepen its business-to-business digital marketing expertise and Weiter proved to be the right fit.
“We had strategic partnerships in place with developers and media buyers and other partners to fill our digital gaps,” Apfelstadt said. “But it was time to bring complex digital expertise in-house.”
Wagg, in the Q&A, said he started Weiter three years ago and was looking for ways to expand capabilities as well, particularly on the creative front.
“We didn’t have the chops to play confidently there,” he said. “So we were also kind of actively looking for a partner like Treetree. … Things just aligned very well.”
The firm was the area’s 13th largest advertising and marketing agencies, according to Columbus Business First research, with $4.23 million in gross receipts in 2021.
Apfelstadt also has been recognized multiple times in Columbus Business First’s annual C-Suite Awards.
