No affordable real estate in San Francisco? Lies! Behold, a $100,000 listing in a condominium complex located in a prime San Francisco neighborhood, just a block from Oracle Park.
By the way, it’s a parking spot.
Parking spot No. 140 at 88 Townsend is up for sale to the tune of $100,000, listed by Compass real estate agent Bill Williams. He’s pitching it to potential buyers as a safe investment where you should “park your money” — pun very much intended.
“When you buy any asset and you have it, it’s not like you spent the money. You can turn around and sell it again,” said Williams. “You could leave [$100,000] in your bank account and you might see the same return, but you wouldn’t have a parking spot.”
Of course, there is the potential for risk in any real estate investment.

He said six or so spaces in the same garage have traded hands in recent years; most recently, one parking spot just a few spaces away sold for $90,000 in November.
So far, the sellers have received one verbal offer for $90,000, but they passed on it.
If you’re interested in actually living at 88 Townsend — not just parking your car there — it’ll cost you quite a bit more. A one-bedroom, one-bathroom 644-square-foot condo is currently listed for $849,000.
