First Look: Colt Python Revolver with 3-Inch Barrel | An Official Journal Of The NRA – Shooting Illustrated

The Colt Python is frequently named as one of the best revolvers ever made, and it has a large following among wheel gun enthusiasts. Colt relaunched its famous Python revolver in 2020 with two models: One with a 4.25-inch barrel and another with a 6-inch barrel. The new Python was well-received, even after more than a twenty-year production hiatus, but collectors still longed for the 3-inch model. Now the wait is over, as Colt is producing 3-inch barrel Python in 2022.
Like the other Colt Python models, the 3-inch barreled version is chambered for .357 magnum and features a 6-round cylinder. This new model has the same appearance as the the original revolvers, with a semi-bright stainless steel finished barrel and frame contrast with stunning walnut grips. The shape of the grip, along with the deep checkering and inlaid golden Colt logo are reminiscent of the classic Python design, and the ribbed top strap and full-length underlug are unchanged from the original.
All of the Python revolvers are double- and single-action guns with a spurred hammer. A match-grade adjustable rear sight (windage and elevation) and interchangeable red-ramp front sight allow you to zero the revolver with any load from full-house .357 magnums to .38 special target loads.
Colt Pythons are always fun to shoot, but a peppy load in the 3-inch model promises to bring a smile to your face every time. The compact 3-inch model has the classic looks of the original with the modern enhancements that ensure a lifetime of shooting pleasure.

Shoppers, on your marks. Get ready…
Converting a DA/SA pistol like the H&K USP to Double Action Only (DAO) typically requires the installation of proprietary parts. Having a certified armorer or qualified gunsmith do the work ensures the gun’s safety and reliability.
Get the get you need while also supporting a great cause.
22 WMR, optics-ready slide and a unique magazine release are only some of the interesting things about this pistol.
