MINE’s 1993 Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R is an absolute legend of a car, having been featured in dozens of magazines and videos, and even making an appearance as a drivable car in 1999’s Gran Turismo 2. Roughly 30 years after its creation, Japan’s Built By Legends is giving the motoring public a chance to own their own modernized, spare-no-expense version of the world-famous Skyline with what might just be the ultimate built-to-order restomod of the MINE’s R32.
The car is created by BBL in conjunction with MINE’S, using a combination of the latter’s parts — and decades of experience — along with a few ultra-high-end aftermarket bits and numerous bespoke items from the former. Hand-built by MINE’S master engine builder Toshikazu Nakayama, the R32 is powered by a straight-six engine built around a Nismo Heritage block that’s been bored out to 2.8-liters before receiving weight-matched forged pistons and con rods, a forged crank, a Mines x BBL titanium exhaust system, an HKS R-Type intercooler, and GCG GT2860R turbos. Good for 500hp, the RB26 mill also sits under a black powder-coated titanium strut brace that’s decorated with a topographical map of Mt. Fuji.
Weighing in at just under 3,000lbs, this contemporary take on the JDM icon also features a modernized, top-shelf suite of running gear including a new suspension setup with Öhlins DFV dampers and Hyperco springs, and top-of-the-line Brembo four-piston F50 front calipers and F360 rear calipers chomping down on two-piece slotted rotors. Riding on 18” RAYS Volk Racing wheels wrapped in Bridgestone rubber, the car also wears a custom set of bodywork with a front bumper, a NACA duct-equipped hood, and a rear wing that are all crafted from carbon fiber and made by BBL in collaboration with MINE’S. Cloaked in a Shiranami White Pearl Metallic livery, the exterior also gets a new BBL grille and special MINE’s x BBL badging while the interior has been treated to sport seats with period-pattern fabric inserts, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, a MINE’S leather handbrake, a BBL shift knob, and R34 pedals.
Available now on a limited built-to-order basis, Built By Legends’ MINE’s R32 Skyline GT-R starts at $380,000. Each car is also sold with a custom billet key.
